Episode 101: The 2 AM Friend

Welcome to the very first episode of herspective.

In this deeply personal conversation, we're sharing the story behind the podcast, the friendship that started it all, and the difficult seasons that ultimately brought us here.

What began as a friendship between two college acquaintances evolved into something much deeper when we found ourselves navigating some of life's most painful transitions at the same time. Through divorce, heartbreak, betrayal, major life changes, moves across the country, and the overwhelming loneliness that often accompanies those experiences, we became each other's 2 AM friend—the person you call when life feels too heavy to carry alone.

In this episode, we talk about the moments that shaped our friendship, the healing that happened on kitchen floors and late-night phone calls, and why we felt called to create a space where other women could feel seen, supported, and understood during their own seasons of transition.

We also share a little about who we are, the winding paths that brought us here, and our vision for Herspective as a community built on honesty, connection, faith, and the belief that no one should have to navigate life's hardest chapters alone.

Whether you're moving through heartbreak, grief, loneliness, uncertainty, a major life transition, or simply feeling like no one understands what you're carrying, this conversation is for you.

Because sometimes the most powerful thing we can offer one another isn't advice—it's presence.

In this episode, we discuss:
• The story behind the phrase "2 AM Friend"
• How our friendship evolved from acquaintances to chosen family
• Navigating divorce, broken engagements, and life's unexpected detours
• Why healing often requires sitting with your feelings instead of rushing past them
• The loneliness that can accompany major life transitions
• Finding support when therapy, coaching, or other resources feel out of reach
• Learning to reconnect with yourself during seasons of change
• The vision and heart behind herspective

If you've ever found yourself awake at 2 AM wondering how you'll make it through what you're facing, we hope this conversation reminds you that you're not alone.

Welcome to herspective.
